Wired.com Vs Wired Mag Vs Both

I got a notice that my subscription to Wired was done and tat it was time for me to consider renewing it. It didn’t take long for me to decide not to, though, it’s definitely not because of the content; Wired is easily one of the most interesting magazines on the market. Its central theme is generally “Cool schtuff from everywhere,” and each page rarely fails to impress.
But why stop then?
For awhile now Wired has had two distinct publications, being Wired Magazine and Wired.com. The dot com updates multiple times a day with new content and is divided into several sections (blogs, sections, and…), but it also syndicates the magazine content. The site teases, only putting some of the content online at a time, but by the end of the month you’ve pretty much got access to all of the magazine’s articles and photo. Factor in the fresh content delivered exclusively online and you’ve got a lot of entertainment to peruse.
For some people a magazine in their hands is king. They ride the subway and read it on the john. Me, I ride my bike to work and try to make my trips to the washroom as quick as possible, lest I run into the guy who drops his pants at the urinal and farts when I walk by him (it’s happened, twice). I spend most of my time, both at work and at home, staring at a computer screen, so getting my dose through the web portal ends up being the most sensitive thing to do. Every geek, technologist, news buff, photographer, green peace freakos, car lover and child should read Wired, and they can do it for free.

I used to buy Wired off the stands, but it was Wired who convinced me not to with their infamous Free Stuff issue. They pointed out I could get their magazine online for free, so I felt like a sucker buying it. I don’t know if that’s good or bad for their business plan.
